The 1997 North Dakota Beef Cattle Improvement Association Annual Meeting will be Friday, December 5. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the Cow-Calf Conference December 5-6, 1997 at the Bismarck Doublewood Inn.
The NDBCIA Board of Directors is scheduled to meet from 12 noon-4 p.m. on December 5 at the Bismarck Royal Fork. The annual meeting of the NDBCIA will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Doublewood Inn. Updates on the development of the DATALINETM program and a report on the CHAPS program will be given.
Dr. Kris Ringwall, executive secretary, will provide the annual business and financial reports on the association. The annual meeting will also feature information on the cow-calf production business. Other activities producers may want to take in include a full day workshop on December 5 dealing with intergenerational business of family farming and ranching. The program, by Dr. Ron Hanson, Ag Economics from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost of the event is $12 per person.
Following the NDBCIA Annual Meeting on December 5 at 6 p.m., Dr. Harlan Hughes, NDSU Extension Beef Cattle Economist, will provide a feature presentation entitled "Managing for Profitable 1998 Calves." The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Following the presentation there will be an open reception.
The Cow-Calf Conference begins with coffee at 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 6. Presentations from 10 different cattle production, research and education experts from across the state and nation highlight the event.
Co-sponsors of the Cow-Calf Conference with the NDBCIA include NDSU Extension Service, NDSU Agricultural Experiment Station, ND Stockman's Association and the North Dakota Beef Commission.
